Science 9 | Distances in Space

EU9.1
Inquire into the motion and characteristics of astronomical bodies in our solar system and the universe.
Students will continue to explore the concepts introduced in the following document:

Distances in Space
Distances in Space:  Answers

 Science 10E | Balloon Cars

Students will begin building and testing their balloon cars.

1.  Be propelled only by air escaping a balloon or balloons
2.  Be able to travel a straight, three meter course in the shortest time possible
3.  Travel on at least two wheels which rotate with the forward motion of the car

Yesterday - Research and Design
Today - Build and Test Day
Friday - Modification and Test Day
Monday - Competition Day

 E. Science 20 | History and ESC

Students be complete and assess the following research activity:

Historical Events and Environmental Science
Due:  Today

Aral Sea Crisis

With this research and reflection piece, I will connect Course Outcomes ES20-ES1 (Examine the methods, mindsets and purposes of environmental science) and ES20-AS2 (Assess the importance of maintaining healthy water for humans and the environment).

Science 10 | Motion Related Technologies

SCI10-FM1
Explore the development of motion-related technologies and their impacts on self and society.
Indicator for this outcome
(d)
Design, construct and evaluate a prototype of an object that meets a student-identified need related to motion.

Addressing the above indicator, students will work in groups of two to build and race a Balloon Car.  Balloon Cars will:

1.  Be propelled only by air escaping a balloon or balloons
2.  Be able to travel a straight, three meter course in the shortest time possible
3.  Travel on at least two wheels which rotate with the forward motion of the car
